Mount only - the windscreen receiver is NOT included

This is the detector-side holder mount on its own. It needs a RAD MAG powered receiver already fitted to your windscreen to dock onto and draw power from.

Check which version you need. Uniden moved the RJ11 socket to the opposite side of the detector between generations, so the R1 / R3 and R4 / R7 / R8 / R8W holder mounts have their cable exit hole on opposite sides. They are not interchangeable.

Fitment note

Mount only - the powered windscreen receiver is NOT included. Choose the version that matches your detector: the R1 / R3 and R4 / R7 / R8 / R8W have their RJ11 cable exit on opposite sides.

Product Highlights

  • Direct Detector Fit: Purpose-built for the Uniden R-Series mounting point, with the RJ11 cable exit hole matched to your model.
  • Extreme Grip: N45 magnets rated for 4.5kg of breakaway force - it will not budge until you want it to.
  • Integrated Power Pins: Pogo pins collect power straight off your RAD MAG receiver, so there is no cable running between your detector and the windscreen.
  • RJ11 Lead Attached: A 10cm RJ11 lead is soldered internally to the pogo pins. Plug it into your detector and you are finished.
  • NZ Made: Printed in heat-stable ASA-CF for New Zealand UV and summer windscreen temperatures.

Compatibility
  • Uniden R1
  • Uniden R3
  • Uniden R4
  • Uniden R7
  • Uniden R8

What's Included
  • 1x RAD MAG detector holder mount for your chosen Uniden model, in your chosen pin count
  • 10cm RJ11 lead, soldered internally to the pogo pins and ready to plug into your detector
  • Not included: the powered windscreen receiver, power cable and swivel bracket hardware. Buy the combo kit listing if you need those.
What You Need

A RAD MAG Powered Receiver: Already fitted to your windscreen and wired. This listing does not include one.

The Correct Model: Uniden moved the RJ11 socket to the opposite side of the detector between generations, so the R1 / R3 and R4 / R7 / R8 / R8W versions have their cable exit hole on opposite sides. Pick the one that matches your detector.

Matching Pin Count: A 2-pin holder mount only works with a 2-pin receiver, and a 4-pin only with a 4-pin. They are not interchangeable, and forcing a mismatched connection can damage your detector.

Swivel Bracket Hardware: Re-use the bolt, square-neck screw and pivoting bracket from your factory Uniden mount. If yours is missing or already in use, add the Uniden Swivel Bracket Kit.

2-Pin vs 4-Pin

Important: 2-Pin and 4-Pin systems are not cross-compatible. Your detector, mount, and power cable must all use the same pin configuration.

  • 2-Pin (Power Only): Your detector functions as it does today. All functions on the detector work. No remote mute switch.
  • 4-Pin (Power + Mute/Alert/Data): Allows you to use a remote mute hardwire kit.

Know your mount - 2-Pin vs 4-Pin
RAD MAG mounts compared: 4-Pin (power and data), 2-Pin (power only). 4-PIN Power + Data2-PIN Power Only
2-Pin

Power only - your detector runs and functions as normal. Best for simple hardwire installs.

4-Pin

Power + data - required for the Escort Smart Cord, Uniden Remote Mute Kit or Valentine One ESP accessories.

2-Pin and 4-Pin are not interchangeable — forcing a mismatched connection can damage your detector.

Frequently asked questions

2-Pin vs. 4-Pin Mounts — What’s the difference?

Are 2-Pin and 4-Pin mounts interchangeable?

No. They are completely non-interchangeable. They use different physical connectors and internal layouts. Mixing components or forcing a mismatched connection can permanently damage your radar detector.

Does my detector still fully function on 2-Pin?

Yes. All on-device features (Mute, Mark, top buttons, display, and audio alerts) work perfectly normal on both versions. "No alert out" simply means the 2-Pin mount cannot send signals to external, separate dash accessories (like a remote mute button or motorcycle helmet link).

Which one do I need?

Mount Type Best Used For Confirmed Models
2-Pin (Power Only) Simple, clean hardwiring (e.g., mirror taps or basic fuse box power) where you just want the detector to power on and function as usual. Standard power-only setups.
4-Pin (Power + Data) Required if you are using the manufacturer's factory "smart" hardwire kit with a remote mute button. Uniden R4 / R7 / R8 / R8NZ, Escort EZ Mag, V1 Gen 2.

⚠️ Bottom Line: If you want to use a Escort Smart Cord, Uniden Remote Mute Kit or Valentine One ESP Devices and are comfortable with soldering wires get the 4-pin. Otherwise, the standard 2-pin is fine for most users, If still unsure, message us before buying. 😊
