Best bond, first time

A rock-solid hold starts with clean glass

Every RAD MAG receiver mount now ships with a professional isopropyl alcohol prep wipe - so the adhesive grips bare glass instead of dust and film. One quick wipe means the strongest, longest-lasting bond.

Warm the glass
Glass should feel warm - ideally 20°C-38°C. If it's cold, run the defroster or a hairdryer over the spot for 1-2 minutes.
2
Wipe & buff dry
Clean with the included isopropyl wipe, then buff the wet area dry straight away with a clean microfibre cloth.
3
Press & mount
Onto buffed-dry glass, press the 3M VHB firmly from the centre for the strongest bond.

Complete install guide

Step 01 - Prep

Warm the glass, wipe & buff dry

Glass must feel warm - ideally 20°C-38°C. VHB will not bond to cold glass, so warm the spot with your defroster or a hairdryer for 1-2 minutes first. Clean it with the included isopropyl wipe, then buff the wet area dry straight away with a clean microfibre cloth. Don't let it air dry - wiping while wet lifts the oils off the glass.

Step 02 - Mount

Press firmly, wait 36-72 hrs

Press the receiver from the centre outward for 30 seconds minimum. Leave it undisturbed for 36-72 hours (72 hours for Redline 360C detectors) - the adhesive needs that time to cure before it takes the weight and leverage of the detector arm.

Step 03 - Wire & drive

Connect power, snap in

Powered mounts: connect switched 12V via mirror tap or fuse tap (see below). Snap the detector arm into the mount and start driving.

Step 03 - wiring detail

Two ways to power your mount

Mirror tap (easiest)
Plug spade connectors into the power loom behind your rear-view mirror - no fuse box trip, no wire cutting. Drop the mirror cover, identify switched 12V + ground, slip the spades on, tuck the tail along the headliner and refit. Fully reversible.
Fuse tap (bare wire)
Run a switched 12V feed from a fuse slot in your fuse box and bolt the black ring terminal to a bare-metal chassis bolt for ground. Insert a 2A fuse in the slot farthest from the blade. Route wires along the headliner and down the A-pillar for a permanent, tidy result.
Before you connect
Always confirm switched (not constant) 12V with a multimeter before wiring - constant power drains your battery overnight. Mirror tap ends in two flat spade plugs; fuse tap ends in a red wire + black ring terminal.

Any local car audio shop can install the powered mount in under 15 minutes. If you'd rather have it done right the first time, that's the move - and it keeps the 30-day guarantee fully intact.
